Sciatica is marked by the sharp pain similar to an electrical shock in sciatic nerve. This pain travels from the buttock to the back of the thigh and leg. Lower back pain is also common. Sometimes, the pain may extend up to the front of the knee, calf and the foot. The distribution of the pain is slightly different from person to person depending on which sciatic nerves are irritated. Irritations of sciatic nerves are mainly due to inflammation, strain, or damage in the sciatic nerve. Also, pain is felt in one side of nerve. The most common cause for Sciatica Pain is a herniated disk in your back primarily due to age or excessive strain.
