The Most Common Sciatica Symptom: Sciatica Pain

Sciatica pain is the most common symptom of sciatica, most often felt in the legs and buttocks. Pain occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or inflamed. The pain can be felt throughout the body along the areas where the sciatic nerve is extended. The severity of pain depends completely on the condition of the Sciatica Nerves. You may only feel numbness, weakness, dull ache, or tingling while other people feel mild pain throughout their back and upper leg. The pain can be severe enough to cause immobility of the leg. Usually sciatica pain only occurs on one side of the body, or one side usually has milder symptoms than the other.

Many factors affect sciatica pain. Prolonged sitting or standing may worsen the pain as well as extensive working out, running, or driving. Sports that include twisting movements such as golf or tennis can increase the seriousness as well. Also, studies show that bending backwards, sneezing, coughing or laughing can aggravate symptoms. The pain tends to build up slowly and gets worse during the night. Most pain starts to subside after 6 weeks of moderate activity and light exercises. But if sciatica pain shows no sign of improving after 30 days, then it is an indication tha u should go see a doctor.
